What about the Donut Hole?
2025 Rules
You may have heard about the "donut hole" from friends or family, often with concerns about higher medication costs. However, starting in 2025, the "donut hole" will no longer exist. The Inflation Reduction Act has eliminated the coverage gap, simplifying Part D into three phases:
1) Deductible
2) Initial Coverage
3) Catastrophic Coverage
Once you meet your deductible, you will pay the copay amount specified by your Part D plan. After spending $2,000 on covered medications, including the deductible and copays, you will move into the catastrophic phase, where all in-formulary medications are covered 100%.
